Dr. Jacalyn Ely attended the University of Maryland and graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. For more than 20 years she has served patients in her private practice, the Medical Park Low vision Center in Silver Spring. As an associate professor of ophthalmology at Maryland General Hospital, Dr. Ely teaches low vision and contact lenses to medical interns.
The Medical Park Low Vision Center offers comprehensive adult and pediatric low vision evaluations. Low vision devices such as telescopic or microscopic lenses help many patients with visual impairments caused by macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, optic nerve disease, stroke and congenital disorders such as ocular albinism, aniridia, or rod-cone dystrophy.
