Dr. David L. Armstrong is a second generation optometrist and a native of Batavia, NY. He was educated at the University of Rochester and Illinois College of Optometry. Following graduation from optometry school he served three years as a U.S. Army optometry officer at Fort Benning, GA. In 1972, Dr. Armstrong entered private practice in Roanoke, VA. Since then he has enjoyed serving the vision and eye health needs of thousands of people in Roanoke and the surrounding area. For several years he was a part time member of the medical staff of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem, VA. He has also served as a low vision examiner for the State of Virginia and as an optometric consultant to the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Dr. Armstrong is a long time member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association. He continues his professional education through study and attendance at many hours of Optometric Continuing Education yearly.

As a member of medical mission teams, Dr. Armstrong has participated in several short term missions. These missions, sponsored by the United Methodist Church, have served the people of Kingston, Jamaica and Cap Haitian, Haiti.

Dr. and Mrs. Armstrong reside in Roanoke, VA. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
